Duonest

Privacy Policy

Last updated October 14, 2026

Duonest is an iPhone app for tracking household expenses and income. It's made by Himanshu Arora, an independent developer in Ontario, Canada ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information Duonest uses, where it's kept, and the choices you have.

In short: your household data is stored in your own iCloud account, not on our servers. If you connect a bank, your bank login goes directly to Plaid, transactions are kept only on your iPhone, and our bank service keeps just what's needed to keep the connection working. We don't show ads, we don't track you across other apps or websites, and we never sell your information.

Information you add to Duonest

Households, expenses, income, amounts and dates, categories, notes, the names of family members you add, and receipts, photos, invoices or payslips you attach. This is stored with Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) in your own iCloud account. We, the developer, cannot see it. When you share a household, the people you invite can see it, according to the access you give them.

Signing in and app lock

If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple gives the app an identifier and, if you choose, your name; these are kept on your iPhone. If you create a login ID and password instead, they're kept in your iPhone's Keychain. Face ID and Touch ID are handled by iOS — Duonest only learns whether unlocking succeeded.

Camera and photos

Duonest uses the camera and your photo library only when you choose to scan or attach a receipt or document. Reading the text on a receipt happens on your iPhone, using Apple's on-device text recognition. The images you keep are stored with the expense in your iCloud, as above.

Bank connections (optional)

Duonest Premium can connect to your bank or card accounts through Plaid Inc. so it can match transactions to your expenses and income. If you choose to connect:

Plaid's handling of your information is described in the Plaid End User Privacy Policy. When you disconnect a bank in Duonest, we delete its access token from our service, ask Plaid to remove the connection, and delete its transactions from your iPhone.

Subscriptions

Duonest Premium is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment; we never receive your card or payment details. The app checks with Apple whether your subscription is active.

Notifications

If you turn on reminders or bank-match notifications, they're created on your iPhone. We don't send push notifications from our own servers.

What we don't do

Service providers

Duonest relies on Apple (iCloud, Sign in with Apple, the App Store), Plaid (bank connections, only if you connect a bank) and Cloudflare (hosting our bank service and this website). Like any web service, Cloudflare may process technical information such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the service. We don't use this to identify you.

Keeping and deleting your information

Your household data stays in your iCloud until you delete it. Delete a household in the app to remove it, and everything in it, from iCloud. Disconnect a bank to remove its connection from our service and from Plaid. Deleting the app removes the bank transactions kept on your iPhone. You can also email us to ask us to delete anything our bank service holds for you.

Children

Duonest is meant for adults managing a household. It isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.

Your rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or ask a question about this policy, by emailing support@duonestapp.com. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as Canada's PIPEDA.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for important changes, let you know in the app.
